Q1: What permits are required for the Laila Peak Base Camp Trek?
A: Because the Gondogoro Glacier corridor lies within a restricted high-altitude mountain zone, foreign trekkers require a Trekking Visa, an official  Restricted Area Permit issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department, and must trek accompanied by a licensed mountain guide through a registered tour operator. Skardu Expedition Treks and Tours will handle all of this.
Q2: Do I need technical mountaineering gear (crampons, ropes, harness) for this trek?
A: No. The standard trek to Khuispang (Laila Peak Base Camp) follows glacial moraines and rocky trails. Technical climbing gear is only required if you intend to cross the steep Gondogoro La pass or climb Laila Peak itself. Good trekking boots and trekking poles are sufficient for base camp.
Q3: How difficult is the trek compared to K2 Base Camp?
A: It is substantially shorter and less taxing than the full K2 Base Camp trek, making it ideal for trekkers seeking high-altitude Karakoram scenery in a 12-to-14-day itinerary. However, walking over loose glacial moraine and ascending to 4,600m requires good cardio endurance and foot stability
Q4: How are flight delays between Islamabad and Skardu handled?
A: Mountain weather can disrupt flights to Skardu. The itinerary incorporates designated reserve/overland days via the Karakoram Highway (overnighting in Chilas) to guarantee seamless international connections regardless of flight status.
