aROUND TREKS OF NANAGA PARBAT
Nanga Parbat, Sanskrit for “Naked Mountain” is so named because some of its slopes are so steep that they are bereft of vegetation and snow. According to the local old legend, Nanga Parbat is also called Diamir, which means abode of fairies. It is believed that the Queen of fairies lives there in a castle made of solid crystal-clear ice, which is guarded by gigantic snow serpents and frogs. The earlier disasters in climbing this mountain are attributed to the displeasure of fairies. Nanga Parbat is not a single peak but consists of 20km long series of peaks and ridges culminating in an ice crest of (8125m). Its South Face known as Rupal Face is (5000m) high, while the North or Raikot Face plunging over (7000m) from the summit to the Indus forms one of the world’s deepest gorge. This expedition takes us to the Southside, which is known as Rupal Face.
Trekking in Pakistan’s Western Himalayas is a round journey that circles Nanga Parbat. It has recently grown in popularity as a destination for trekkers and mountaineers from all over the world. All mountain lovers will have a full perspective from the hike.

Trek Around Nanga Parbat with Skardu Expeditions Tracks and Tours:
The second-highest peak in Pakistan and ninth-highest in the world, Nanga Parbat (8125 m/26,813 ft), is also regarded as one of the three most difficult mountains in the world. The enormous massif is known as Nanga Parbat, which means “bare mountain,” and includes a sequence of ridges and pinnacles that culminate at an elevation of 8125 metres (26,813 feet). The second nickname that has gained notoriety is Killer Mountain since the early tragedies that occurred on this peak were severe and once resulted in the greatest number of fatalities of any mountain in the world. It took a long time to conquer, but a joint German-Austrian expedition finally succeeded when Hermann Buhl made the last ascent in a gruelling 41-hour solo agony without oxygen.
In the programme, we travel in a circle around the mountain to take in its natural beauty and local culture. At Mazeno, a semi-technical crossing that requires fixed ropes to descend on steep crevassed slopes, we reach the highest point of our climb at 5300 metres. Our hike comes to an end at Fairy Meadows, whose name perfectly captures its essence.
